Staff Correspondent: The teachers of government primary schools are going to observe indefinite strike from October 1 demanding the change in teachers’ salary.

Bangladesh Primary Teachers Association leaders announced the programme after arranging a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in the capital on Friday.

The teachers said indefinite sit-in program will be staged at the Shaheed Minar until their demands are met.

It was known that the education ministry sent a letter to finance ministry to upgrade the salary scale of primary school teachers. Following the letter, on September 8, finance ministry said there is no scope to increase the salary of headmasters and assistant teachers of government primary schools.

In the press conference, Bangladesh Primary Teachers Association president Md Atikur Rahman said, memorandum will be sent to all the upazila nirbahi officers on September 26 to meet the demand.
