Probe bodies to examine Munshiganj launch capsize

Two separate probe committees were formed to look into the incident of Munshiganj launch capsize where at least 7 people were killed.
The launch MV Miraj-4 sank during a storm near Gozaria Launch Ghat in the district with more than a hundred passengers on board while heading for Sureshwar in Shariatpur from Sadarghat in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon.
Shipping Ministry formed a three-member committee headed by engineer SM Sirajul Islam just after the incident occurred, AKM Fakhrul Islam, chief engineer of Department of Shipping told risingbd.com.
The committee was asked to submit its probe report within the next ten working days.
Meanwhile, BIWTA chairman Dr Shamsuzzoha Khandakar told risingbd.com over phone that he has already stared for the spot.
A rescue vessel has also been sent there, Dr Shamsuzzoha added hoping that the rescue operation would be started within an hour.
He also said that a three-member committee headed by BIWTA finance member Md Moniruzzam has been formed to investigate the incident.
