Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi: The rail communication of Rajshahi with other parts of the country was restored after 28-hour disruption following the derailment of an oil-laden wagon near Halidagachhi station of Charghat upazila of Rajshahi on Thursday midnight.
Chief Engineer Afjal Hossain said a Chapainawabganj-bound oil-laden wagon from Pabna went off the tracks, halting movement on the route on Wednesday evening.
The derailment caused immense suffering to hundreds of passengers, as many trains got stuck at different nearby stations like Ishwardi and Natore.
The train was carrying 30 oil tankers, of which eight went off track.
A five-member investigating committee has also been formed that has been asked to submit its report within 72 hours.
