Ramadan: Moon sighting committee meets this evening

The national moon sighting committee meetsthis afternoon(Friday) to look over moon sighting reports to determine the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

The meeting will be held in the Islamic Foundation conference room at BaitulMukarram National Mosque in Dhaka this evening.

State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Md Abdullah, also the chief of the national moon sighting committee, will preside over the meeting.

The committee has also requested people to call the following  telephone numbers or notify the district deputy commissioners or upazilanirbahi officers instantly upon seeing the moon from anywhere in the country.

If the moon is sighted today, Ramadan will begin from Saturday.

The crescent for the holy month of Ramadan was sighted in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.

Accordingly, Friday, April 24, is the first day of Ramadan 2020.
