‘Remittance inflow to surge 21 billion dollar’

Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed said “Around 1 crore Bangladeshi nationals are currently working in foreign countries. Sending remittance, they are playing an important role in country’s economy. The remittance inflow will surge 21 billion dollar in current fiscal year.”

The minister came up with aspiration while addressing a press conference on the occasion of International Migrants Day on Tuesday.

He said, “We have to send skilled workers to continue the positive trends. The government is taking the issue seriously.”

“The demand of untrained workers is decreasing day by day. Still there are 40 percent untrained workers in the country. We want to pay attention to them. The government took various kinds of initiatives to skill workers. Training centers will be built in every upazilas,” the minister said.

Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Md Salim Reza, additional secretary Dr Ahmed Munirus Salehin, Wage Earners Welfare Board DG Gazi Julhas and others attended the function.
