Road accidents claim 21 lives in 5 districts

At least 21 people were killed in road accidents in five districts on Thursday night and Friday.

In Habiganj, at least nine people were killed and 4 others injured as a microbus hit a roadside tree at Kandigaon under Nabiganj upazila.

The incident took place around 7.30am on Friday on Dhaka-Sylhet highway as the driver lost control over the microbus.

In Brahmanbaria, at least six people were killed in a collision between a bus and a microbus at Bijoynagar early Friday.

According to sources, a Dhaka-bound bus of Limon Paribahan collided head-on with a Sylhet-bound bus around 3.00am in front of Chandura New Petrol Pump of Dhaka-Sylhet highway.

The cylinder of the microbus exploded and it caught fire. Five passengers of the microbus died on the spot and another died on way to hospital.

In another accident, a motorcyclist was crushed under a truck at Sarail in Brahmanbaria on Thursday night.

The incident took place around 8.30pm on Dhaka-Sylhet highway.

The deceased was identified as Masum Bepari, 38, son of Abdur Rauf Bepari in Manikganj district.

He was an employee of Ashuganj Power Plant.

In Mymensingh, at least two people were killed and three other were injured as a truck hit a fish-laden truck at Bhaluka early Friday.

In Feni, two motorcyclists were killed as their bike hit an under construction bridge at Sonagazi on Thursday night.

In Savar, a police constable was crushed under a truck on Dhaka-Aricha highway.
