Road crashes claim 534 lives in February

At least 622 people were killed and 1,238 others injured in some 569 accidents on road, railway and river routes across the country in last month (February), says a report of Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity.

‘Road Accident Monitoring Cell’ of the platform prepared the report based on news, carried by various national dailies, regional newspapers, online news portals and news agencies, said a press release on Monday.

According to the report, of the total number, 534 people lost lives and 1,169 others received injuries in 504 road accidents across the country in the sole month of February while some 56 railway accidents claimed some 48 lives and left 13 others wounded.
Meanwhile, 40 persons were killed, 56 were injured and 64 others remained missing in 9 riverway accidents in the same period, said the report of the passengers’ welfare body.
