Robbery plan at Walton showroom made in jail: DC Harun

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Tejgaon Zone) Harun-Ur-Rashid has said robbery plan at Walton showroom of the capital’s Panthapath was made in jail.

He said, ‘They (robbers) were identified each other after they were sent to jail in different theft and robbery cases. They made a plan there to commit robber in any big showroom. As pert the decision, they robbed Walton showroom in the capital’s Panthapath.’

DC Harun said this in a press briefing at Sher-e-Banglanagar Police Staiton in the capital on Sunday.

Mentionable, a robbery took place at Walton showroom of Panthapath on the night of June 23. Rana Mia, manager of the showroom, filed a case in this connection with Sher-e-Banglanagar Police Station in the following morning.

Four people were arrested over the incident after analysing CC Camera footages of the different places. They were arrested with help of information and technology. 

The arrestees were knonw as Robiul Islam, Sumon, Rana and Sathi. Of them, Robiul gave confessional statement before the court under the section 164.

DC Harun said, ‘Robbers took away 24 Walton refrigerators, 5 LED TVs, a mobile phone set, Tk 4.5 thousand of driver and Tk 800 of helper. The estimated cost of the goods is over 6 lakh. Of the goods, police rescued 18 refrigerators and 3 LED TVs.
