Rumpa murder: Saikat lands in jail after remand

Abdur Rahman Saikat, a friend of Stamford University student Rubaiyat Sharmin Rumpa whose body was found in Dhaka, was sent to jail after 4-day remand today.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mandal passed the order after rejecting bail plea.

DB police inspector Shah Md Aktaruzzaman Ilias produced him before the court and pleaded to keep him behind bars.

Earlier, on December, the court placed Abdur Rahman Saikat over the mysterious death of Stamford University student Rubaiyat Sharmin Rumpa, on a 4-day remand.

The body of Rumpa, 22, a second-year English student of Siddheswari branch of the private university, was recovered from an alley of the area on December 4.
