Minni’s bail upheld

Staff Correspondent: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) has upheld the Ayesha Siddika Minni’s bail granted by the High Court (HC) in her husband Rifat Sharif murder case.

Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Hasan Foyez Siddique passed the order around 11.40am on Monday.

Minni’s lawyers said from now there is no bar to get released from jail.

Ayesha Siddika Minni got conditional bail in her husband Rifat Sharif murder case from the High Court on Thursday.

Lawyer Sufia Khatun on behalf of the state filed an appeal petition on Sunday afternoon seeking stay on the HC order that granted conditional bail to Ayesha Siddika Minni.

Earler on August 29, the HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman HC granted permanent bail to Minni on condition of not speaking to media.

On June 26, miscreants swooped on Rifat Sharif with machetes in front of Barguna Government College in broad day light, leaving him critically injured. Later, he succumbed in Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital on the day.
