SC upholds ban on ‘Nirapon’

The Supreme Court (SC) has upheld a High Court (HC) order that imposed a six-month ban on Nirapon, an alliance of 23 foreign RMG brands to oversee building inspection, remediation, and monitoring of listed apparel factories in the country.

The Appellate Division led by the Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain came up with the order on Monday, after rejecting appeal petition of Nirapon.

Barrister Imtiaz Moinul Islam moved for the petition in the court.

Earlier on October 22, the HC bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman imposed on Nirapon and issued a rule, following a supplementary petition of Mostafa Qamrus Sobhan Rubel, the chairman of Dragon Sweater and Spinning Ltd.
