SC verdict on Azharul any day

Staff Correspondent: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) will deliver its verdict any day against Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam.

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, passed the order on Wednesday.

The bench also completed hearing of arguments from both the state and defense on an appeal filed by Azharul challenging the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) verdict that sentenced him to death. 

On December 30, 2014, ICT-1 gave Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General ATM Azharul Islam a death sentence for his war crimes committed in Rangpur in 1971.
