Sagira Morshed murder: PBI submits charge sheet

The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has submitted charge sheet in the case filed over the murder of Sagira Morshed Salam.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and PBI Chief Banaj Kumar Majumdar revealed this at a press briefing at Dhanmondi PBI headquarters in the capital on Thursday.

The charge sheet has been filed accusing four people in the murder case, Banaj Kumar said.

Sagira, who was a researcher at Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies, was shot dead in broad daylight on July 25, 1989 in the capital's Bailey Road area.

On November 20, the High Court gave the PBI two more months to investigate into the murder.

The PBI started investigating the case upon High Court order on June 17, 2019.

The four people arrested in the case confessed to their involvement in the killing of Sagira during the PBI interrogation.
