Setu sent to jail in Abrar killing case

A Dhaka court has sent SM Mahmud Setu to jail custody, as police produced him before the court after four days of remand, in Buet student Abrar Fahad’s murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Mahmuda Aktar passed the order on Saturday.

Investigation Officer and detective branch inspector Md Wahiduzzaman produced the accused before court and pleaded to keep him behind bars.

Earlier, DB police arrested Setu from Dhaka's Banglamotor area on October 27.

On October 7, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) students and the varsity authorities found seemingly lifeless body of Abrar, 22, in critical condition from first-floor stairs of Sher-e-Bangla Hall and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead.

Later, Abrar’s father Barkat Ullah filed a murder case with Chawkbazar Police Station against 19 persons.
