Shafiul gets wicket back after 3 years

Sports Desk: Pacer Shafiul Islam had played his last game in Bangladesh jersey in 2016. He was not seen in ODI team since the match against visiting England held in Chattogram.

On Friday, he made his return after three years, through the first ODI of three-match series against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh got the very first breakthrough against the hosts.

Shafiul was not the called in 15-member squad in the series. He got the chance as no. 3 pacer because of injuries of Skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Saifuddin.

The farewell match of Lasith Malinga was launched by Shafiul.

Shafiul secured the breakthrough in his second over. He broke the opening partnership in just for 10 runs, sending back Avishka Fernando, who posted 7 runs off 13 balls.

Shafiul delivered a loose ball that edged Avishka Fernando’s bat. Soumya Sarkar grabbed at widish first slip.

Bangladesh was thrilled to see the back of Fernando, who can be quite dangerous in the Power Play.
