Shahed’s NID blocked: EC secy

National Identity Card (NID card) of Regent Group Chairman Md Shahed has been blocked, said Election Commission (EC) Senior Secretary Md Alamgir.

The EC secretary came up with the information while talking to journalists after a meeting held the Election Commission Secretariat at Agargaon in the capital on Monday (July 20).

The EC secretary said, “After investigation, action will be taken against those who will be found involved in the name change forgery of Shahed in the NID.”

“An investigation is underway to find out those involved in the name change forgery. Action will also be taken against Shahed if any proof is found,” he said.

It is learnt that Regent Group Chairman Md Shahed amended his own name in the NID card. He changed his name into Md Shahed instead of Shahed Karim around a year ago. The EC looked into the matter after it came into light.
