Staff Correspondent, DHAKA, Nov 10: The Nation is observing the Shaheed (martyred) Noor Hossain Day today (Sunday) commemorating the supreme sacrifice of the pro- democratic activist, who laid down his life to overthrow the then autocratic regime of Hossain Mohammad Ershad.
On this day in 1987, Noor Hossain was killed in police firing near Zero point in the city while participating in a pro- democracy procession. His death ultimately expedited the fall of Ershad regime and paving the way to restore democracy in the country.

In their messages, they recalled with gratitude the supreme sacrifice of Noor Hossain to restore democracy in the country.
