Shahnaz Rahmatullah accorded reception

DHAKA, Sept 21: Noted singer Shahnaz Rahmatullah was given an honorary award by Citi Bank NA on Friday for her outstanding contributions to music and culture.

The award was given to the singer by Citi Bank NA Bangladesh Country Officer Rashed Maksud and Singer Bangladesh Ltd`s chairman Mahbub Jamil at a function at Radisson Blue Hotel in the city.

Accepting the award, Shahnaz Rahmatullah thanked the Citi Bank NA.

She said if the banks in Bangladesh take such an initiative, it would be very good for the country`s cultural arena.

Shanaz Rahmatullah said she would never return to song as `I`ve performed Umrah.`

Speaking at the reception, noted composer Gazi Mazharul Anwar said artistes like Shanaz Rahmatullah would always remain alive. `I wish her better life and sound health in future.`

Later, Shahnaz Rahmatullah presented her three songs at the request of singer Samina Chowdhury.

Earlier, singer Samina Chowdhury sang several popular songs sung by Shahnaz Rahmatullah.
