Md Barkat Ullah, father of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad who was beaten to death in the dormitory, has demanded justice for his son to the court.

He said, “The accused inhumanly tortured my son and killed him in a planned way. I sought justice to the court.”

Barkat Ullah demanded this while giving deposition at the Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 on Monday (October 5).

Tribunal Judge Abu Zafar Md Kamruzzaman  recorded his statement.

Later, defence lawyer started cross-examining him.

The tribunal, however, fixed Tuesday for next date of hearing.

Earlier on September 15, the same court framed charges against 25 accused in the case.

Abrar Fahad, 21, a second year student of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of BUET, was found dead at his dormitory at Sher-e-Bangla Hall in the early hours of October 7.

The victim's father Barkat Ullah filed the murder case with Chawk Bazar Police Station on October 7, 2019, accusing 19 people. Later, six more were included in the case.

Police, however, arrested 22 people in this connection. Of them, eight gave confessional statement in court.

On March 12 this year, Fahad murder case was shifted to Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 after his parents met the Law Minister and urged to shift the case to a Speedy Trial Tribunal.
