Shortage of public transport suffers city commuters

Transport strike is underway in the capita protesting implementation of new road transport act, causing immense sufferings to city dwellers.

Although, the transport workers enforced the strike other parts of the country but the impact is seen seriously today in the capital. There is a shortage of public transports in many key points in the Dhaka.

Office-bound people were seen waiting at several key areas in the city failing to get enough public transports. No buses were seen in Mirpur-Motijheel, Mohammadpur-Sayedabad, Uttara-Motijheel routes.  

Khandaker Enayetullah, secretary general of Bangladesh Transport Owners Association told risingbd, “We did not provide any information regarding transport strike. Some vehicles were sent to ply in various routes but truck workers stopped those.”
