Spain's daily death toll climbs to 400

The death toll from the coronavirus pandemic has continued to rise in Europe, with officials in Spain announcing nearly 400 new deaths overnight, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to more than 1,700.

The death toll from an outbreak of coronavirus in Italy has risen by 651 to 5,476, officials said on Sunday, an increase of 13.5 percent but down on Saturday's figure when some 793 people died.

Globally, more than 13,000 people have now died from COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, data collected by the United States-based Johns Hopkins University showed. 

Meanwhile, an estimated 92,000 of the 304,500 people who contracted the disease globally have recovered._Agencies.
