Speaker mourns death of Badar Uddin Kamran

Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Awami League’s central executive committee member and former Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran.

In her condolence message, the Speaker said, "A life filled with a long and colourful political career ended at the demise of Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran. He will remain alive in the mind of masses with his own works.”

She prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

The former Sylhet city mayor breathed his last at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka at 3:00am on Monday (June 15).

Kamran had been undergoing treatment at the hospital since June 7.

On June 5, Kamran tested positive for coronavirus and was admitted to Sylhet Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital.

On June 7, he was taken to Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka by a special helicopter of Air Force as his physical condition deteriorated due to Covid-19 infection.
