‘Steps being taken so that Rohingyas can’t get passport’

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said on Wednesday noon that action will be taken against those involved in providing passports to Rohingyas.

The minister made the assertion after addressing a meeting regarding security measures on the occasion of upcoming Durga Puja.

He said, “We are going to take action against those involved with these activities. Steps are being taken so that Rohingyas cannot get passport.”

“Many agencies are involved in the process to provide passport to Rohingyas. The fact came to the law enforcers after passing many steps - such as local chairmen, ward commissioners, national identity cards,” he said.

When Rohingyas entered into Bangladesh, they were registered biometrically. As a result, they're easily detected whenever they try to obtain passports. However, those who are trying to do it technically are also being caught," the minister said.
