Suspected thief beaten dead

A man has been beaten to death by an angry mob after being suspected of a thief.

The incident took place early Sunday at Earshadnagar under Tongi in Gazipur city.

The deceased was identified as Selim alias Kala Selim, 37, son of Abul Kashem in Besnal area under Tongipara Thana in Munshiganj.  He used to reside in with family members in Earshadnagar area.

OC of Tongi East Police Station Md Kamal Hossain said Selim went to Abdul Rahim’s house. Sensing his presence, family members raised hue and cry when neighbours rushed in and caught Selim.

Later, they gave him a good beating, leaving him dead on the spot.
