Syed Muazzem Ali no more

Former foreign secretary Syed Muazzem Ali has died at the Combined Military Hospital in the capital.

He breathed his last around 11:45am on Monday at the age of 75.

Family sources said that Syed Muazzem Ali died of cardiac arrest. He also had been suffering from old-age complications.

Muazzem Ali, born on 18 July 1944 in Sylhet, joined the Pakistan Foreign Service in 1968, and retired in December 2001. While serving in the Pakistan embassy in Washington DC in 1971, he declared his allegiance to the government of Bangladesh.
