Telecast of foreign serials need approval

Information Minister Dr. Hassan Mahmud said that television channels in Bangladesh will have to take approval to telecast foreign serials.  

The minister made the assertion while addressing reporters at his secretariat office in the capital on Monday noon.

He said, “Various television channels are airing dubbed foreign programmes. We have imposed obligation to take approval in this regard. These programmes need to go through a scrutiny. Cinemas got approval after maintaining a censor board system similarly these foreign dubbed serials should get approval in that way.”

“So, the ministry issued an order for TV channels to take the government’s approval to broadcast the dubbed serials on November 27. Many TV channels have already taken approval to run those serials. A preview committee has been formed to oversee the matter,” he added.
