That 17 JMB members sent to jail

A Dhaka court has sent 17 members of JMB, who were planning to join a so-called jihad after migrating into Saudi Arabia, to jail in a case filed under the Anti- Terrorism Act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sorafuzzaman Ansari passed the order on Tuesday.
Earlier, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit inspector, also Investigation Officer (IO) of the case Babu Kumar Saha produced them before the court and filed a petition to send them to jail.
The counter terrorism unit claims to have arrested the 17 members of JMB from the capital's Kakrail on Monday evening.
The JMB members were identified as Md Haider Ali, 44,, Md Mahmudul Hasan alias Masum, Md Jamirul Islam, 24, Md Billal Hossain, 38, Md Sheikh Arafat alias Jony, 48, Imrul Hasan alias Emon, 25, Saiful Islam, 25, Md Mozammel Haque, 33, Md Shahjalal, 34, Md Aktaruzzaman, 30, Mahmudul Hasan alias Sabbir, 23, Abid ul Mahmud alias Abid, 22, Sohail Sardar, 33, Obaidul Islam alias Sumon, 30, Mahmud Hasan alias Sharif, 18, Majedul Islam alias Mukul, 28, and Sohag Hasan, 20.
The CTTC team recovered 19 cell phones, Tk 2.34 lakh and USD 922 from their possession.
According to police, the arrestees said in primary investigation that an engineer, Syed Mostaq bin Arman, left Bangladesh for Saudi Arabia in 2017 and is still staying in the country. Mostaq released video on his YouTube channel, inviting Muslims to join jihad as a soldier of Imam Mahdi. Inspired by the video clip, the arrestees communicated with Mostaq and tried to go to Saudi Arabia to prepare for war as Imam Mahdi's soldiers.
CTTC filed a case in this connection with Ramna Police Station under the Anti- Terrorism Act.
