The absconding bus driver arrested

Senior Correspondent: Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has arrested the driver in connection with a case filed over losing one of legs of a woman in Dhaka’s Bangla Motor area on August 27.

The driver Md Morshed was arrested on Monday morning. He remained absconding since the incident.

The PBI officials declined to say about the whereabouts from where he was arrested.

Details regarding the issue will be briefed later, said the officials.

Krishna Rani Chowdhury, 55, lost one of her legs after a bus ploughed through a footpath in Dhaka’s Bangla Motor area in the afternoon of August 27. She is an assistant manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC).

She was going to an ATM booth near her office at Bangla Motor when a bus of Trust Paribahan ploughed through the footpath after its driver lost control over the steering around 2:30pm.

Krishna Rani’s husband Radheshyam Chowdhury filed a case with Hatirjheel Police Station accusing the owner, driver and helper of the bus.
