Tonu murder: Legal notice served to autopsy doctors

Staff Correspondent: Legal notice has been served to the doctors who are concerned to prepare first autopsy report of Sohagi Jahan Tonu`s body.
Tonu`s father Year Ali sent the notices to Mosin-Uzzaman Chowdhury, professor of Comilla Medical College and Hospital, Dr. Kamda Prasad Saha, the chief of forensic department and Dr. Sharmin Sultana, the first autopsy physician of Tonu`s body.
The notice was reached at Comilla Medical College and Hospital on Tuesday night, confirmed Tonu`s father Year Ali.
The notice, on behalf of Year Ali, sent by advocate Salma Ali, Executive Director of Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association sought to know the reasons why evidences of rape were not found in the first autopsy report and why it would not be take legal steps against them to delay providing the second autopsy report?
A second-year history student of Comilla Victoria College and theatre activist, Tonu was killed after allegedly being raped inside Comilla`s Maynamati Cantonment on March 20.
The first post-mortem of Tonu, which was performed soon after her body was found near her residence inside the cantonment, failed to find the cause of death and determined that she had not been raped before her death.
IO Gazi Mohammad Ibrahim submitted the first autopsy report to a Comilla court.
On May 16, CID officials said three people gang-raped Tonu before killing her.
“The evidence of rape has been found on her clothes,” Special Superintendent of Police in Comilla Nazmul Karim Khan said, and added: “We have almost solved the case, and hope to identify the killers soon.”
