3 UPDF activists killed in Khagrachhari gunfight

Bandarban Correspondent: Three activists of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) were killed in a gunfight with joint forces in Dighinala upazila of Khagrachhari on Monday.

The deceased were known as – Bujendra Chakma, Joti Chakma and Rashil Chakma.

Local sources said, the joint forces conducted a drive in Baradam area around 10:00am. Meanwhile, the gunfight broke out between the UPDF members and joint forces members. At one stage, the terrorists fled the scene. Later, three bodies were recovered along with three fire arms.

Police super of the district Md Ahmaruzzaman confirmed the matter.

Earlier, an army member was killed in a gun attack by terrorists in Rajasthali upazila of Rangamati district on August 18. Following the incident, tight security measures were taken in Bandarban and Rangamati.
