Verdict on Syed Kaiser’s appeal Jan 14

Appeal hearing of former Jatiya Party minister Syed Mohammad Kaiser who was sentenced to death for crimes against humanity in 1971 liberation war of Bangladesh has concluded.
The appellate division of the Supreme Court is set to pronounce the verdict on the hearing on January 14.
An appeal bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain set the date for pronouncing the verdict on Tuesday.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam moved for the state while Khandkar Mahbub Hossain and SM Shahjahan moved for the death row convict in court.
On December 23 in 2015, International Crimes Tribunal-2 sentenced Kaisar to death along with 22 years in jail for his role as Rajakar commander and Shanti Committee member in Habiganj during the war. Later on January 19 in 2016, he appealed against the verdict.
