Dhaka sees animal sacrifice on 2nd day of Eid

The flavor of Eid-ul-Azha continues as many people are slaughtering their sacrificial animals on the second of day in the capital.

Some people said they did not slaughter their sacrificial animals on the Eid day on Sunday to avoid the scarcity of butchers while some others said they traditionally do it on the second day of Eid.

Visiting different city areas, including Farmgate, Central Road, Azimpur, Dhanmondi, it was seen that many people were slaughtering animals and processing their meat.

Rabiul Hossain, a trader in Azimpur, said we sacrifice three cow every year. One cow was slaughtered on Eid day. We slaughtered one cow today. Another will be slaughtered tomorrow. May Allah accept our sacrifice.

Farhan Chowdhury, a dweller of Dhanmondi said, we could not manage cattle on Eid day. Besides, there was scarcity of butchers. That’s why we slaughtered our sacrificial animals today, on the second day of Eid.

According to Islamic rules, the sacrificial animals can be slaughtered any day of the first three days of Eid-ul-Aza. Islamic scholars, however, agree that doing the sacrifice on the first day is more blessed.
