Virtual courts grant bail to around 21,000 accused

A total of 20,938 people, who were accused under criminal charges, have been granted bail in 10 working days during virtual hearings held in all lower courts across the country following the directive of the Supreme Court.

Supreme Court spokesman Md Saifur Rahman confirmed this to risingbd on Friday (May 29) afternoon.

The accused have been granted bail after holding virtual hearings of petitions filed seeking bail in the cases against them, said Saifur Rahman.

The subordinate courts have disposed of a total of 33,287 bail petitions filed by the accused, he said.
