Wari goes through flexible lockdown on 2nd day

The second day of lockdown is going on in the capital’s Wari area. On the day, many people tried to come out of home. However, the tendency seemed a little less than the first day. Everyone will comply with the lockdown gradually, volunteers hope. They said though restriction was flexible on the secondary, it will be tougher from Monday.

It was seen in the area on Sunday, each entrance of the area was blocked. Only Hot Cake Lane and Rankin Street remain opened for emergency movement. People who are moving in and out are using these two gates. Medicine stores, super shops and hospitals remain opened. Cleaners of the city corporation are collecting wastages from door to door.

Patients and their relatives are using the gates. However, not more than two persons were allowed with a patient. Many maids who came from outside were working at different homes. Many of them were seen standing in front of different buildings for entry. They were seeking permission from volunteers.

Housewife Hamida Begum said the family does not survive on husband’s income alone. So, no way but to work at different homes. We will be unpaid unless we do the works. What will we eat if we are unpaid?

When asked, if house owner told them to join work, she replied, ‘They said nothing.’

Md Sayeed, official of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, said we requested all residents of the area through loud speakers not move out of home without extreme emergency.  The tendency seemed a little less on Sunday than Saturday. Most of the people who come out of home do business or job. They were requested to stay at home.

Sayeed said no maid servant was allowed to enter inside any building since Saturday. Today it was little bit flexible. However, it will be tougher from Monday.

Mentionable, lockdown enforced in Tipu Sultan Road, Joginagar Road, from Joykali Temple to Baldha Garden (Outer Road), Lalimin Street, Hare Street, Ware Street, Ranking Street and Nawab Inner Street in Wari under the ward no 41 of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) since July 4 which will continue for next 21 days.
