Why appointment of JP Chief should not be declared illegal: HC

The High Court has issued a rule asking the authority concerned why the appointment of GM Quader as the Jatiya Party chairman should not be declared illegal.

The bench justices JBM Hassan and Md Khairul Alam passed the order after hearing a petition on Tuesday.

Lawyer Abdul Matin Khasru moved for the petitioner while deputy attorney general Nur-us-Sadik stood for the state in the court.

The Election Commission (EC) and GM Quader himself have been asked to respond to the rule.
