Women Affairs Dept director dies of coronavirus

Md Fakhrul Kabir, director of Department of Women's Affairs, died of coronavirus infection at a hospital in Dhaka.

Md Fakhrul Kabir breathed his last at the hospital around 2:30 am on Tuesday (June 9).

A press release issued from the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs confirmed the matter.

Fakhrul, a joint secretary and a 13th BCS (admin) member, tested COVID-19 positive at the beginning of this month. He was undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and later, was shifted to Square Hospital after his condition started deteriorating, according to the press release.

His wife is also infected with COVID-19 and is receiving treatment at home, it added.

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira, MP, and Secretary Kazi Rowshan Akhter expressed their profound shock at his death.

In a condolence message, the state minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to his bereaved family members.
