Writ filed seeking cancellation of 175 officials’ appointment

Staff Correspondent: A writ petition has been filed with the High Court (HC) challenging legality of 175 law officials’ appointment to the apex court to conduct cases.
Of the officlas, 70 were appointed as deputy attorney general while 105 as assistant attorney generals.
Advocate Farhad Uddin Ahmed Bhuiyan filed the writ petition with the concerned department of HC on Sunday.
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Khairul Alam may hear on the writ any day of the current week.
Cabinet Division Secretary, Chief Secretary of the PM’s Office, Law Secretary, Chairman of Law Commission, Attorney General and others concerned were made defendants in the writ petition.
Petitioner Advocate Farhad Uddin Bhuiyan said, “Less qualified lawyers were appointed on political consideration which is against the articles of 19, 22, 27, 28, 29 and 31 of the constitution.
