Writ seeks closure of all courts to contain Corona

A writ petition has been filed with the High Court (HC) seeking its directives on the government to announce all the courts of the country including the Supreme Court closed in order to contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

It has been urged in the writ to keep all passengers returning from abroad in quarantine under government management.

The writ also sought a directive to form a high-powered committee to monitor whether all the returnees are in quarantine or not.

Barrister Humayun Kabir Pallab filed the writ petition with the concerned branch of the High Court as a public interest litigation on Wednesday (March 18).

Health secretary, home ministry secretary and other concerned have been made respondents to the writ.
