Youth kills bride’s father at wedding function

Senior Correspondent: A youth stabbed the father of a bride to death at a wedding ceremony at Dilu Road in Moghbazar area of the city on Thursday.

The killer youth was detained in this connection.

Muhammad Abdur Rashid, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hatirjheel Police Station, said there was a wedding ceremony of Tula Mia’s daughter Fatema Akter Swapna at Priyanka Community Centre behind the old BGMEA Bhaban.

At one stage, the youth who had earlier an affair with Swapna stormed the venue and stabbed Tula Mia, 47, with a sharp weapon indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.

Tula Mia was taken to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Police primarily identified the youth as Sajib Ahmed Rocky.

However, guests at the wedding ceremony caught Sajib red-handed and handed him over to police after a beating.
