Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said BNP founder Ziaur Rahman introduced first liquor, gambling, casino in the country.
The minister said this while addressing a press conference at Dhanmondi in the capital on Sunday afternoon.
In reply to the opinion of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the information minister said, “Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman stopped liquor, gambling, housie in Bangladesh. But, Ziaur Rahman launched those again.”
He also said, Mirza Abbas, Sadek Hossain Khoka, Mosaddek Hossain Falu were involved with casinos in various clubs.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina started drive to uproot these. I think BNP secretary general should thank the government.”
Hasan Mahmud said, “Ten percent commission business took place by Tarique Rahman opening Hawa Bhaban. So, BNP leaders who brought shame for the nation and the country as well, have no ethical right to speak on this issue.”
