Apparel exports increase in EU, but decline in USA  

In the seven months from July to January of 2023-24 financial year, Bangladesh’s garment exports slightly increased in the European Union market. 

But, garment exports declined in the US and Indian markets at that time. 

This information has been revealed in the latest statistics of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). 

According to EPB statistics, readymade garment exports to the European Union were worth USD 13.92 billion in the seven months of FY 2023-24. It is 1.32 percent more than the same period of the previous financial year. 

During the same period of the previous financial year, readymade garments worth USD 13.73 billion were exported to the European market. 

Meanwhile, in the seven months of the current financial year, Bangladesh's garment exports to Spain, France, Netherlands and Poland increased by 6.05 percent, 4.25 percent, 11.77 percent and 20.30 percent respectively. However, Bangladesh's garment exports to Italy decreased by 1.81 percent.
