New banknotes with Mujib’s image on Eid

Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, Bangladesh Bank is going to release new banknotes on 19 March. 

These notes will bear the signature of the resigned Governor Abdur Rouf Talukder. 

However, the notes that will be released in the market during Eid-ul-Azha will not have the image of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Bangladesh Bank spokesperson and executive director Arif Hossain Khan confirmed the matter.

These fresh notes will be available at banks shortly after the release. 

According to sources from Bangladesh Bank, the new Tk 5, Tk 20, and Tk 50 notes will include Sheikh Mujib's portrait.
