Economic Correspondent: The local consumer based electronics’ goods manufacturer ‘Marcel’ is considering the current year 2016 as a challenging year in terms of grabbing a lion portion of the country’s electronics market.
With the aim of turning the challenging year into a successful one, the local brand is doing its business operation by adapting timely working plans from its production level to marketing strategies. Marcel has already added new sorts of electronics and electrical products to the existing products’ line. It has also strengthened research and development activities to ensure highest quality of its produced goods and also increased the number of service and sales points. Modern technologies and equipments were installed in the manufacturing unit. In addition, the local brand has slashed the prices of its products following the reduction of overhead cost at the manufacturing process.
The Marcel officials said they were registering 30 to 35 per cent growth in the business during the last couple of years. Witnessing the continuous business growth, this year Marcel has set a target of bagging 40 percent growth than the previous year.
To this extent, it has introduced some new products like rechargeable lamp, water purifier, induction cooker, rechargeable fan, gas stove, sealed lead acid rechargeable battery, LED bulb, electric switch, socket, and fan regulator. Besides, it added some new models to products to its existing products like refrigerator, freezers, LED television, air conditioner, rice cooker and blender.
Recently, Marcel has marketed non-frost refrigerators with ‘intelligent inverter’ technology based compressors, which consume about 35 to 40 percent lower electricity than the refrigerators with induction technology compressors. In addition, compressors with intelligent inverter technology would be long-lasting and generally ensure noise-free sound. By producing refrigerators with intelligent inverter and nano-healthcare technologies, Marcel fridge has now met the European and American standards.
Besides, Golden Fin technology is now being used in Marcel brand AC. And, the local brand is now manufacturing LED televisions through using world’s latest technology.
The officials said they have already achieved about 40 percent of the growth’s target, set for the current year, during the first four months of 2016. In this case, Marcel brands fridges, air conditioners, air coolers and rechargeable fan have played a colossal role. During the last two months, Marcel experienced huge sales of these products following the sweltering summer heat across the country.
The officials said, Marcel is now manufacturing and marketing a total of 25 products with about 150 models and designs, including 31 models of refrigerators; 6 models of freezers; 41models of LED and 13 models of colour line television; 7 models of air conditioner 24 models of LED bulb; 8 models of electric switch-socket, 7 models of generator; 14 models of rice cooker; 4 models of motorcycle; 9 models of blender; 6 models of iron; 4 models of electric kettle and rechargeable fan; 5 models of sealed lead acid rechargeable battery; 2 models of rechargeable lamp, induction cooker, oven, room heater, voltage stabilizer and gas stove; one model of water purifier, fan regulator, holder, air cooler and voltage protector.
Mosharraf Hossain Razib, head of marketing (north) of Marcel, said, “Our prime aim is to be the premier electronics brand in the local market. Marcel brand gained popularity among the customers within a short time of its journey. Now, we are the 2016 as a challenging year for us to grab the lion portion of the country’s electronics market. To make the dream true, some new electronics and electrical appliances were released and new models and designs were added to the existing products specially in the area of refrigerators and LED televisions.”
Shamim Al Mamun, head of marketing (south) of Marcel, said the current year is a very important for us to bring the Marcel brand into the apex position in the local electronics market.
He said, customers are now getting wide ranges of Marcel products at more cheap rates than the earlier as the prices of products were come down substantially following the reduction of overhead cost at the production process.
Mamun hoped that they would be able to emerge as the country’s premier electronics brand at the end of current year.
Mentionable, Marcel is providing swift post sales services across the country through its ISO standard service management system.
