66 institutes getting ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman export trophy’

Some 66 exporters will get ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Export Trophy’ for earning the highest amount of foreign currency through export in their respective sectors for the financial year 2017-18.

The Ministry of Commerce issued a gazette notification recently mentioning the 66 export-oriented companies and the medal which they will get.

Among the companies, Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Ltd, an export-oriented woven manufacturer, has been named as the top exporter and is going to get the “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Export Trophy” for bringing the highest receipts.

According to the company official, Zaber & Zubair Fabrics earned the highest amount of earnings through shipment of home and specialized textiles, an emerging sector during the blitz of the Covid-19 pandemic. 

According to the Ministry of Commerce, they declared the “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Export Trophy” for the first time to encourage exporters to strive for exporting more goods and services and bring increased receipts.

Moreover, the rest of the companies are set to be awarded the National Export Trophy for the highest amount of export receipts. The recognition is given in three categories — gold, silver and bronze, said the ministry.

The ministry also said that the selection of the National Export Trophy was completed last year for FY18 but was not announced due to the pandemic.

Now the trophy will be officially handed over at any convenient date. Usually, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina hands over the medals to the awardees.

According to the notification, RMG (woven sector), Rifat Garments Ltd will get the export trophy in the gold medal category for earning the highest number of exports while AKM Knit Wear Ltd is going to get recognition in the silver, and Tarasima Apparels Ltd will get bronze.

In RMG (knitwear sector), Square Fashions Limited secured the gold medal, while Four H Fashions and GMS Composite Knitting Industries received silver and bronze medals respectively. 

Badsha Textile Ltd, Kamal Yarn Ltd and Nice Cotton Ltd have been named for gold, silver and bronze medal category export trophies respectively in the yarn sector, said the notification.

According to the notification, in the textile fabrics sector, Envoy Textile Limited will get the gold medal while Noman Weaving Mills will get the silver medal, and Four H Dyeing and Printing will get the bronze medal.

Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Limited and ACS Textile (Bangladesh) Limited received the gold and silver medals respectively in the home and specialized textile products sector. 

Meanwhile, Noman Terry Towel Mills Limited won the gold medal in the Teri Towel sector.

Besides, in the frozen food sector, the gold, silver and bronze medal winners are BD Sea Food, MU Sea Food and Jalalabad Frozen Foods Ltd respectively.

In raw jute exporting, International Jute Traders is going to be recognized as the only top exporter for FY 18. Moreover, Akij Jute Mills Ltd tops the highest exporter list in the jute products category while The Golden Fiber Trade Center Ltd became the second top exporter, said the notification.

Apex Tannery Ltd has been selected for the export trophy in the gold category in the crust or finished leather exporters.

Picard Bangladesh Ltd, ABC Footwear Industries Ltd, and BBJ Leather Goods Ltd are going to get gold, silver and bronze medals in the leather goods sector.

Bay Footwear Ltd is going to get recognition as the highest export earner in footwear where FB Footwear Ltd was the second top exporter followed by Alliance Leather Goods & Footwear Ltd in FY18, said the notification.

M/s Monsur General Trading Co secured top where Heritage Enterprise and Abdullah Trading Co were second and third highest exporters in the agricultural products (excluding tobacco).

However, three entities of Pran-RFL Group — Pran Dairy Ltd, Pran Agro Ltd and Habiganj Agro Ltd — are set to get recognition as the top three exporters in the agro-processing sector, to be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.

According to the notification, Karupannya Rangpur Ltd is getting a gold medal, while Classical Handmade Product BD is getting a silver medal and BD Creation is getting a bronze medal in the handicraft sector.

In the plastics sector, Bengal Plastics Limited Unit-3 is getting a gold medal, All Plast Bangladesh Limited is getting a silver medal and Tanvir Polymer Industries Limited is getting a bronze medal.

Shinepukur Ceramics Limited is getting the gold medal and Artisan Ceramics Limited is getting the silver medal in the ceramic category, said the notification.

In the light engineering sector, Uniglory Cycle Component Limited will get the gold medal and Rangpur Metal Industries Limited Unit-2 will get the silver medal.

Energypack Engineering Limited won the gold medal in the electric and electronics products sector and BRB Cable Industries Limited won the silver medal.

BSRM Steels Limited won a gold medal, Marine Safety Systems won a silver medal and Asia Metal Marine Service won a bronze medal in the other industrial products category.

According to the notification, Square Pharmaceuticals Limited is getting the gold medal and Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited is getting the silver medal in the pharmaceutical product category.

Universal Jeans Limited and Pacific Jeans Limited are winning gold and silver medals respectively in the garment sector under EPZ (knit and oven), which are owned by Bangladesh ('C' category).

Moreover, Fardin Accessories Ltd won gold medals and RM Interlining Ltd won silver medals in other products and services under the garment sector under EPZ (knit and oven), which are owned by Bangladesh ('C' category).

In the packaging and accessories products category, Montrims Ltd won the gold medal, M&U Packaging Ltd won the silver medal and Uniglory Packaging Industries Ltd won the bronze medal.

Orchid Trading Corporation won the gold medal in the other primary products category, Eco Fresh International won the silver medal and Bang Chung Trade and Tourism won the bronze medal.

Mir Telecom Limited is the only gold medalist in the other services sector.

Square Textiles Ltd won the gold medal in the reserved sector (products and services) for women entrepreneurs or exporters, Al-Salam Fabrics Pvt Ltd won the silver medal and Ibrahim Knit Garments Pvt Ltd won the bronze medal.
