Govt to import 1.10cr litres of soybean oil from USA

The government has taken an initiative to import of 1.10 crore litres of soybean oil from the USA through an international company in a bid to meet local demand.

A USA-based supplier Accentuate Technology Corporation (Local Agent- OMC Limited, Dhaka) in Virginia will supply the soybean oil. Per litre price will be 1.27 dollars. For this, the company deposed a bank guarantee of 2 lakh 97 thousand dollars.

The company will also supply soybean from Malaysia.

On May 3, Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) sent a proposal to the Ministry of Commerce to purchase 1.10 crore liters of soybean oil.

Sources said a procurement proposal in this regard may be presented to the government procurement cabinet meeting for approval.
