Govt nods to import egg, sets price of 3 commodities

The government has fixed the price of egg, potato and onion. At the same time, a decision to import eggs has been taken.
“At first, small quantities of eggs will be imported. But if the price does not come under control, the import will be increased,” said Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi while disclosing the information to media after a meeting at his office in the secretariat on Thursday (September 14).
In the meeting, the commerce ministry has fixed the price of eggs at Tk 12 per piece, potatoes at Tk 35-36 per kg and onions at Tk 64-65 per kg in consumer level.
Members of Directorate of National Consumers Right Protection will monitor the prices set by the government.
