Sounds of gunshots heard again along Teknaf border

The sounds of gunshots and mortar shells were heard again from Hoaikong border of Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar since Tuesday midnight, spreading panic among local residents.

Residents of the villages along the border in Teknaf upazila have been living in fear as sounds of explosions and gunshots are frequently heard from the other side.

Locals said that the situation was calm even around 11 pm on Tuesday. But soon after 12 am, the sounds of gunshots and mortar shells were heard intermittently. Many people wake up hearing the loud sounds. Even after 3 am, residents of several places along the border heard the sound of gunfire.

Hoaikong union parishad chairman Nur Ahmad Anwari confirmed the incident.
