Gas cylinder blast in Bhasan Char: Death toll rises to 5

Another child, who was injured in the gas cylinder explosion at Bhashan Char Rohingya camp in Noakhali, passed away, taking the death toll in the blast incident to five.

The child succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) on Wednesday (February 28) night.

The deceased was identified as Rushmina, 3.

Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Director Brigadier General Shameem Ahsan confirmed the information.

On Saturday (February 24), nine people were injured when a gas cylinder exploded at the Rohingya camp in the Bhasan Char area.

Of them, seven were taken to CMCH for treatment, where Rasel, 3, succumbed to his injuries on that day.

The remaining six were admitted to the burn and plastic surgery ward of CMCH. Of these, one child died on Saturday, two on Monday, and another on Wednesday.

Currently, two other Rohingya women are undergoing treatment in the accident.
