10 get death penalty, 8 life term

A Cumilla Court has sentenced 10 people to death and eight people to life term in jail for killing a Juba League leader in Monohorganj upazila of the district.

The court has also fined Tk 10,000 each.

Judge of Cumilla Sessions Judge Court Mrs Morium Mun handed down the verdict on Thursday (February 29). 

Death penalty convicted 10 persons have remained absconding.

Juba League leader Jahangir Alam was hacked dead by rivals on May 13 in 2016 over a previous enmity.
