2 go missing as cargo ship sinks in Rupsa river

A fertilizer-laden cargo ship named MV 3 Light-1 capsized after it collided with the pillar of a rail bridge on Rupsa river in Khulna on Sunday (April 7) noon.

Eleven of the thirteen people employed at the vessel managed to swim ashore and two others remained missing in this connection.

A crew, who swam to the coast, confirmed this to risingbd.

Sheikh Md Nurul Islam, in-charge of Rupsa Naval Police outpost, said, “A rescue operation is underway to find out the missing two people.”

Authorities concerned will take steps to rescue the capsized cargo, he added.
